All Fired Arts

After handing out leaflets to local businesses, we were able to secure a plant pot painting session for the residents.

The session was provided by three apprentices from All Fired Arts, a ceramic painting studio in Kings Heath. This was a perfect collaboration between Magic Beans, the care home and All Fired Arts as the apprentices also wished to involve the community and engage with diverse groups in their creative art projects.

The workshop took place on Tuesday at the care home itself and each resident was able to paint their own personalised plant pots which kindly donated by All Fired Arts for the garden.

(We hope to take some photos of the finished products soon)

School Event #1

Jane, Alice and I held Magic Beans' first school fundraising event at this Tuesday's Parents' Evening.

The aim of the evening was for parents to guess, for just 50p, the weight of a delicious Victoria Sponge cake (home-made by Jane) for the chance to win it.

We set up the stall at the end of the school day ready for the evening. Having already caught the attention of both students and teachers, by the time the event came around at 7pm, we had already filled in one sheet of guesses!

Not to scale!

On the stall, we provided information about our project in the form of leaflets, articles and even a model of the garden at the moment.

The parents showed a lot of interest in what we wanted to do and gave us words of encouragement.

While many parents said that they had no idea what the weight of (with many also being bewildered by the idea of using grams as the unit of measurement!), 3 guess sheets were completed and the total from the guesses amounted to an impressive £35.
